When Lindy Boggs first moved to town as a young congressional wife in 1941, she couldn't have imagined that leaving New Orleans meant DC would become home for her descendants. She eventually served in Congress herself and became ambassador to the Vatican in her 80s. Her daughter Cokie Roberts broke through many glass ceilings to become a respected journalist. Cokie's daughter, historian and educator Rebecca Roberts, tells the story of the women in her family and how Washington changed with their times.

Rebecca Boggs Roberts is an award-winning writer and educator. Previous jobs include journalist, tour guide, forensic anthropologist, political consultant, jazz singer, & radio talk show host. Now Deputy Director of events at the Library of Congress, she lives in DC with her husband, three sons, and a long-eared hound.
